On My Wishlist [9]

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where we list all the books we desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It's also an event that you can join in with too - Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own 'On My Wishlist' post. If you want to know more click here.

The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
Publication Date: September 29th, 2011
Publisher: Putnam Juvenile
Page Count: 378 pages
The day Louisiana teenager Rory Deveaux arrives in London marks a memorable occasion. For Rory, it's the start of a new life at a London boarding school. But for many, this will be remembered as the day a series of brutal murders broke out across the city, gruesome crimes mimicking the horrific Jack the Ripper events of more than a century ago.

Soon "Rippermania" takes hold of modern-day London, and the police are left with few leads and no witnesses. Except one. Rory spotted the man police believe to be the prime suspect. But she is the only one who saw him. Even her roommate, who was walking with her at the time, didn't notice the mysterious man. So why can only Rory see him? And more urgently, why has Rory become his next target? In this edge-of-your-seat thriller, full of suspense, humor, and romance, Rory will learn the truth about the secret ghost police of London and discover her own shocking abilities.
Why I Want This: I've always been really interested in stories about Jack the Ripper, so when I read about a sort of, modern day Jack the Ripper story I got really intrigued! Plus, I follow Maureen Johnson on Twitter and she is HILARIOUS! So now I reallyy want this book, because I reallyy want to read it :)

  8. I saw this one at my library earlier this week, and then-- it mysteriously disappeared! LOL I have no idea who took it, but I suspect another librarian :) Oh well! I have like 20 books checked out in the meantime-- also I "stole" Crossed by Ally Condie, to return on Monday since they can't put it on the shelves until it's officially released anyways... whahaha! XD
