Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

Nightshade (Nightshade, #1)Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

Synopsis: Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything- including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Great story, different take on werewolves. This was definitely an approach to werewolves that I've never seen before. Really exciting and kept me wanting to read more and more. A great love triangle that gives both boys an equal amount of likability. Wonderful book, I would recommend it to anyone!

Matched by Ally Condie

Matched (Matched, #1)Matched by Ally Condie

"Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow."

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amazing story from an amazing point of view. Lovers of "The Giver" and "The Hunger Games" will love "Matched". The story is very similar to a modern day "Giver" while including Cassia's rebellious nature and coming of age, much like Katniss. A great story of the importance of individuality and the importance of choice. Wonderful. I finished it in one day!
