*WARNING: This review may contain spoilers if you haven't read the book!!!*
At 12:05AM on March 23rd, I entered the glorious theatre and watched the screen fade to black.... AND THEN TO THE HUNGER GAMES!!!!! Okay, so it's been about 3 years or so since I read the first book, so I don't remember all the great details that made me fall in love with it, but I do know that The Hunger Games movie was absolutely amazing! I laughed, I cried, I swooned, it had all the elements that I remember from reading the story, and then some!
The connection between Katniss and all of the other characters was amazing. I especially loved the scenes between Katniss and Peeta, they're so adorable and their on-screen connection was so real! I can just imagine myself sitting at home in my district and watching 74th annual Hunger Games and falling in love with the starcrossed lovers from District 12! Their chemistry was almost palpable! And like always, the beginning scene where Katniss volunteers for Prim just broke my heart all over again. Gale isn't in it much, but I was glad that they stuck to the book on that one.
The filming and special effects were really fantastic. When Katniss is stung by the tracker jackers I seriously felt like I was the one hallucinating and stumbling around in the woods. And the Girl on Fire effects were FANTASTIC!!! I think Gary Ross and his entire film team did an amazing job with everything, and I really hope he'll be directing Catching Fire!
I don't want to give too much away so I'm going to keep this short, but most of all YOU NEED TO SEE THIS! If you weren't planning on it, then go buy your tickets and see it RIGHT NOW! Seriously, this movie did the book so much justice, and while some things were changed, overall it was so true to the story and I just loved every bit of it!!! I commend Gary Ross and the entire film crew, along with the amazing actors who made this movie so special! Also, I plan on seeing this about 20 more times :)

DeleteI want to see it again right now!! (even though I am half asleep and in zombie mode from less than 3 hours sleep) I think they did amazing with the movie!! The day it comes out on BluRay I am buying it so I can just watch it over and over again!

DeleteI loved it!!! The only thing I wouldve changed is the ending. I wouldve liked it to be more like the book! But overall I think they did GREAT! :-D I'm seeing it again hehe
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I can't even remember the ending of the book.. I read it like 3 or 4 years ago when it came out so I don't remember a lot of the details haha.

DeleteAbsolutely loved it! I was afraid it would be too cheesy or whatnot, but it wasn't. It was great. It got the message across. I really felt it. I can't wait for the sequel.

I'm a big believer in sticking to the book, but I realize there will have to be some changes because of the time constraint, and well, it would be a bit boring if it was word for word the book onscreen. BUT. GALE. ON. MY. MOVIE. SCREEN. I will probably cry just from seeing him. LOLLOL.

BAHAhAHAH!!! Too bad there isn't more Gale for you!! He's not in this one much, which was fine by me because I LOVE ME SOME PEETA!!!! :D They did change some things but I think they still did a good job with it :)

Don't want to post any spoilers but I think they did an amazing job creating the worlds and giving us the whole picture instead of just what was going through Katniss' head. It brought tears, a couple times actually, and a certain part made everyone - including me - jump. Can't wait for the next one!

I'm so jealous! I can't WAIT to go see the Hunger Games, but need to kind of force my boyfriend into it. Like, he's not big on spending money at the movies even when it's my money we are spending, but I might trick him into it, somehow.

Love your review! The Hunger Games was amazing! I have seen it four times already, I am completely obsessed! It is such a great adaptation even though some things may be left out I thought the new scenes more than made up for it. I can't wait to see Catching Fire now!
